International Organizations:

Winvisible: Women with Visible and Invisible Disabilities is an international, grassroots network based in London and Philadelphia which has participated in the Global Women's Strike and is also part of the Every Mother is a Working Mother Network, opposing so-called welfare reform.

During the 2002 United Nations Convention on Disability women delegates represented many groups which participated. Some of these were representatives of the following NGO's:

In June, 2002 was the first International Queer Disability Conference organized by disabled lesbians, bisexual women, and transgendered folks. Plans for a 2004 conference are in the works. For information see http://disabledwomen.net/queer

USA: Disabled Women's Network: information on history, lesbian/queer issues, resources, and more, created by Corbett O'Toole;

Canada: Disabled Women's Awareness Network an organization with two staff members (or more) which does advocacy work for women with disabilities in Canada and networks with wwd's worldwide. DAWN produces several useful publications, including Don't Tell Me to Take a Hot Bath - a book for abuse survivors - and a guidebook for starting groups for women with disabilities

Australia: Women with Disabilities Australia a great amount of resources for disabled women worldwide is provided on their website

Nicaragua: Foundation of Women with Disabilities (Fundacion Nicaraguense de Mujeres con Disconpacidad)

Uganda: Disabled Women's Network and Resource Organization
Uganda Disabled Women's Association, Administrator, Florence Adong

Europe Disabled Peoples International has several women's committees
Disabled Peoples International - Europe produces an information kit on violence against women and girls with disabilities

Asia: Isis Women Information on groups for women with disabilities in Asia can be obtained from Isis-International-Manila at P.O. Box 1837, Quezon City Main, Quezon City 1100, Philippines or email communications@isiswomen.org

El Salvador: Angelina Monteagudo started a group, name needs to be found

Ghana: Women's Group part of Ghana Society for the Physically Disabled, led by Katherine Tsegli
